Dear Love Being Catholic Friends,
My dad is 87 years old and has suffered from Dementia for the last 7 years. He’s also a (retired) PGA Master Golf Pro – (He received a full golf scholarship to the University of Florida over 60 years ago) – and was the Head Golf Pro at the Naval Air Base in Pensacola, FL – teaching many golf lessons to several of the Blue Angels over the years.
This past week my two sisters and mom (Claire) took him out for a great day riding in a golf cart around a course down in FL. – he loved it and had a wonderful time!
This morning my sister asked him “If you could do five things, what would you want to do?” He replied, “Well, I would marry Claire, then I would marry her again. Then I would marry her again and again. Is that five?” He and my mom have been married 63 years, pray the rosary every day, and their love and marriage is such an inspiration – in sickness and in health! Just thought I would share this with you all – it made my day and I am so thankful to God for the gift of such wonderful parents.
Hi – I thought I would share this sweet picture of my mom and dad. They have been married 59 years, and have eleven children and 26 grandchildren. We had 48 of us together last year for Thanksgiving, and in between our family parties they grabbed a quick, twenty minute nap on my couch to rest up for the next family event. They are both in their 80’s, are always holding hands, and love each other and all of us unconditionally. They cherish their Catholic faith, attend daily Mass, and pray the rosary together every afternoon. I love what this picture represents, and thought you would too.
God bless traditional Catholic marriage between a husband and wife. The Catholic teaching on marriage is that it is between one man and one woman.
According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, “Marriage is an original gift from God to humanity. Although sin entered the world damaging the marital relationship, this gift was not lost but redeemed by Christ and raised to a sacrament (see Eph. 5:28-32; see also Mtt. 19:4-6). Sacred Scripture proclaims that God created humanity in “His image” as “male and female” (see Gen. 1:27). So unique is this relationship that the marital union makes of the husband and wife “one flesh” (Gen. 2:24). Procreation, Scripture teaches, is a gift from God (Gen. 1:28). When spouses conceive new life, they participate in the Lord God’s creative power. This is an awesome privilege and sacred responsibility!”
